the Thunder have reached a one-year agreement with Ryan Gomes for the veteran minimum.
What is would appear to mean is that one of the Thunder’s three
non-guaranteed players will have to be released. The Thunder have 15
players under contract already, and are just a couple hundred thousand
dollars under the luxury tax threshold.
However, Gomes deal could also be non-guaranteed or even partially
guaranteed, meaning this might just be essentially a training camp
invite. But then again, with Ronnie Brewer leaving the team as an
unrestricted free agent, I suppose the Thunder could use another veteran
small forward to sit on the bench and never play.
Gomes, 30, is a 6-7 small forward that spent last season in Germany
and has played seven seasons in the NBA. He last played for the Clippers
in 2011-12, appearing in 32 games.
